Pynchon scholar, founder of ORBIT and much more, Martin Eve went to hear
Delillo speak in Southbank London the other evening. He said it was a great
crowd which asked great questions (often not the case, he knows).
During questions, DeLillo stated that he could recall little, not even the
protagonist's name, of WHITE NOISE. Which surprised some, but many judged
he is not into rereading his own work.
Below are a few remarks another attendee recorded, for your interest and
which might reverberate with Pynchon's oeuvre. They are written of together
for good reasons usually.
'I'm a novelist; I don't need answers. I follow an idea.' Don DeLillo
'Maybe every poet or novelist has an element of mysticism that propels his
or her work.' Don DeLillo
