Morris focuses on this (in a link about mass shootings):
"Terrorism and chronic warfare are responses to life in societies in which
the only perceived choices are dominating or being dominated. These violent
responses are characteristic of cultures where this view of relations is
learned early on through traditions of coercion, abuse, and violence in
parent-child and gender relations.
It’s not coincidental that throughout history the most violently despotic
and warlike societies have been those in which violence, or the threat of
violence, is used to maintain domination of parent over child and man over
woman."

Could we not easily say that TRP used such insights in structuring many of
the deep themes of GR?
A whole book by lifelong Pynchon scholars is entitled and focuses on
Domination. All of that interpersonal abuse in 'relationships', in sex.
Violence from sky to ground; violence all around.
All of those young girls taken advantage of in GR are CHILDREN! That turn
of the screw is deeply intentional---for depth of theme.
GR is not just another..........it is not just another anti-war novel; it
is an anti- Warlike Societies (see above) as we should always be saying.
.......
it always contains everything.
