a famous bit from GR. Riffing on it increases bandwidth if we care to.

Interesting, of course, that TRP uses a more modern word for an information
concept that
ALSO has a fine old-fashioned analogous meaning.

IS it an unironically stated (by Mondaugen) "law of existence"?

If so, I want to riff on a few possible implications. First, it contains
some of Pynchon's--that
radical leftie anarchist--'conservative' values early here, I suggest. That
value of accessing
the Past. That value of being part of a whole 'organic' community, not
deracinated, not rootless
ala modernity's way.

In touch with the Future too. I think of Adams' medieval Catholic
overarching worldview which
made one feel certain of the future. That is now lost but if something is
in its place one is better off, this suggests.

"the solider your Now". I think of secure happy kids living so fully in the
moment that one would not even express it this way, as we adults do,
telling ourselves to 'live in the moment".

I think of Other cultures I have only read about, seemingly organic wholes.
I think of P's
attempt to portray an organic community in Against the Day.

I think of all the bandwidth we have lost.
