The death-defying, fantastic banana breakfast made me think of this from
Brown's *Life Against Death, *p 49: "In Plato's *Symposium*[...] the
satisfied Eros must overflow, out of its own abundance, into creativity.
And in Luther, the perfect Agape of God is a *quellende Liebe*, a love
overflowing into creativity. These images suggest that the self-activity
and self-enjoyment of the narcissistic Eros must consist in an overflow
outward into the world. And the poetic mysticism of Blake has the same
intuition: 'Exuberance is Beauty....The cistern contains, the fountain
overflows.'"
p. 37: "Primitive is that level of culture in whch the rhythm of what Freud
calls the primary process--the rhythm of dreams and childhood play--is
predominant. Civilized is that level of culture which effectively represses
the rhythm of the primary process in favor of rationality and the
reality-principle."
p. 33
"Play is that activity which, in the delight of life, unites man with the
objects of his love, as is indeed evident from the role of play in normal
adult genital activity."
Note that bananas are dick-shaped.
Quoting H.H. Brinton: "How then can we have activity as a final goal?
Boehme answers by calling the perfect state 'play.' In 'play' life
expresses itself in its fullness; therefore play as an end means that life
itself has intrinsic value."
All of which is just to say that, yeah, the scale, the impracticality,
exuberance, is what tells death to fuck off.
