Please jog my memory

A few people on the P-List were very laudatory about either a collection of
essays or a reconfiguring of essays into a single book. I can't remember
the author, but the work was very aware cultural criticism by a bit of a
rising star essayist who writes for a well regarded but relatively new
intellectual / artistic journal. There were at least a few people on here
who were regular readers of his who were pretty much blown away by the
scope and erudition of this book. I'd say this happened less than a year
ago, but not by much.
