To keep the Laureate in perspective, here's some thoughts he shared with
Nat Hentoff for a Playboy Interview way back in '65

“I would like to go to one [of these colleges], just to relax once in a
while … just to sit on the banks of some river, most of them are on rivers,
you know. Just do that. But I can’t imagine going to any classes, or
reading any books that they would give me. … Just going to school reading
and writing and taking tests and learning why things happen, it just
[seems] ridiculous in the face of things that are going to happen whether
you know why they happen or not. … Who cares who the first President of the
United States was and who cares where Africa is?”
