This guy below comes from a very poor long-lived Oklahoma community. He's
also gay. he's still relatively poor but went on a posting spree---says he
hopes it will be an article--about what most [of us] don't know about
growing up in a poor community/communities.

Thread is very worth reading but want just to single out what he's written
below. In his community and many more like it, religion is vital and he
thinks that the identification with being rich and being good is VERY REAL.
He says he's seen shame at poorness all around him all his life, and talks
about his mother's connection to the notion.

He argues no matter what was said about Trump, many/most saw him as a
'good'- enough man because saved as his wealth showed. His mom and others
felt little compunction at times to lie
in order to appear bettor off. They would buy showy things when they could
to show all the others.

He argues they felt--wanted to feel--just a job or a break away from being
'rich' that is saved.
