I sent this to commiserate with a bud:

I try to think of this outcome as a manifestation of Neuton's law of equal
reactions.  Trump is a REALY BAD reaction to Obama's 8 years of progress.
It makes no rational sense, but the irrational will have its time, and
Trump is that time in spades.  But I believe his pendulum swing will be
brief because it will be so bad that normal time swings will be cut short.
His tipping point will come very soon.  I am ever the optimist, but in that
I think I am being a realist.  Only time will tell.
