Esquire called it the movie death scene to end all movie death scenes,
describing it:

In the two-minute scene, Kurt Russell

and
his mate get captured by two unknown and silent attackers as they try to
relieve some prisoners from a cannibal tribe. The cannibals strip their
victim while Kurt Russell's character watches helplessly. The attackers
then whip out a bone tomahawk and use it to scalp their victim alive. Not
satisfied with this level of torture, the men stuff their victim's scalp
into his mouth and use the shaft of to tomahawks to break his teeth so that
the whole thing fits. He's the flipped upside down and cut down the middle
with a blunt axe. Once they get to his mid-torso they pull the rest of him
apart - all of which is accompanied by some pretty gruesome squelching and
screaming. The original clip has been removed from YouTube, presumably
because it's so damn brutal.
