I once had a great gig stringing for The New York Sun wherein I could cover sundry
Book and cultural events in NYC.
I went to a book event in the Village one evening which was a panel discussing Bobby's recent Chronicles. There was a good music writer who had interviewed Dylan twice. Once, early in both careers, he had gotten a good interview from him. Seven years later he is at another magazine and scores his second interview.
Dylan begins that interview by clarifying and continuing an answer from the first interview unbidden. He talks about that interview.
The writer did not think it was savant-like memory so much as focus. The man focused on his music and his own mind about it like the artist he is.
