Hi,
I'll also take door number one. Let me put some literay light on that.
Thomas Wolfe argued for the "putter in" side of authors; it is a question
of how much and how. Wolfe may not rank as highly as Fitzgerald today, but
he had a point.
As an anecdote I might ask if anyone wants to guess what the room number
was that George Orwell often worked in while at the BBC? Give up? Scroll
down for the answer if you don't know.
However, the real question is by what method can scholars align what
Pynchon has admittedly put in with what one reads on the page. In my
presentation in La Rochelle I hope to make some strides in that direction.
Have a good weekend.
Ciao
mc
P.S. - I almost forgot - that room number. Well, what did you guess? If
you thought it was Room 101. you were right, you win the author bio tidbit
prize.
