Damn Jerky, where do you find that shit? If you go to the link at the bottom about Kessler trying to give a speech, it says that he fled and the police didn’t protect him. This is nonsense, he left under a heavy police guard. he was part of the thing I was talking about with Spencer and people yelling “shame.” I may have gotten bad info about who was actually up there at the time by the people I was talking to, we couldn’t see any of them because of all of the cell phones being held up. Oddly, the guy I last talked to was, more than anything, pissed that they weren’t “even trying to apologize.” Part of my disillusionment with the left-wing side of this issue here in C-Ville is a complete misunderstanding, or a complete unwillingness to understand, the people they are opposing. The fact that so many people that I know were so upset that it erupted into violence bothers me. They were going to confront people that they knew were violent, people that were saying they hoped for violence, and then they were upset that there was violence. If you plan on confronting violent people that you know hate you, be prepared for that. There is this odd idea that they are going to change these peoples minds. I feel like this is pretty well illustrated by one of the emails I got inviting people to the original counter-protest after the initial KKK rally around the Lee statue. It said, “Bring plenty of candles. We will fight them with our candles and our love.” I know that most of these people don’t actually know any white supremacists, and have only seen them on TV, but I’ve known an awful lot of them. Do you know what people with SWP and swastika tattoos aren’t afraid of? Candles and love.
