I would just add that it's true that reading Pynchon can present some
difficulties in the beginning. Hence the careful reading and re-reading. At
first, and I am no expert, I always suggest just plunging in. Of course,
lots of details and allusions will be missed, but, the details are
important, and the more they're understood, on careful reading, the more
appreciation (again, only my opinion) for the work will grow,
