Did you all catch the stats about how many Repubs, in our polarized party system, NOW think favorably or more favorably about Russia? Doesn't even cover many " liberals" and Lefties' shifts. 

I have been reading about contemporary Russia and I'm scared. Are you? Not since I worried about THE BOMB. 

I recommend FARDWOR, RUSSIA by a courageous writer, Oleg Kashin, already beaten to within an inch, as the true cliche goes. IF He is still alive. I'm afraid to check. This is a comic novel about an entrepreneur who can make animals and people bigger with a new serum. It's an allegorical satire, of course. He makes a midget bigger--he runs off with his wife. Shit like that about the " new Russia."

Putin's Kleptocracy by Karen Dawisha for non-fiction with a lifetime of learning behind it.
