EARLY SPOILER!!!!:
The main character and his girlfriend argue about whether
they met by chance and one game they continue playing
before they are living together is to name an Arrondissement
in Paris where they will both go in the evening....and see if they
find each other. They always do, it seems.

MISC:  The previous twelve arrondissements were reorganized from twelve
arrondissements into twenty. When Haussmann released his plan for the new
boundaries and numbering system, residents of Passy
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passy> objected because it placed them in
the new thirteenth arrondissement, and at the time the expression "they
were married in the thirteenth" was "a jocular way of referring to
non-marital cohabitation".
