Pynchon's hides a definition of Late Capitalism in plain sight

It's certainly a brilliantly composed passage. Indeed, the entire
episode or chapter is amazing. Contrast these figures and this writing
with the Thanatoids and the writing in VL and you can appreciate why
so many fans of GR were not so thrilled with or by VL. Of course, P
does even more amazing things in M&D and AtD. Rumor was that he once
wanted to write poetry.
