NP: 2001/Clarke's Xanadu (Jerk must know about this)

I believe this is included in one of the books Clarke wrote about the
process of creating 2001, but I'm not sure which (there are about a half
dozen!).

Either way, I'll post it on my Kubrick blog, so thanks!
