Both, I guess.  He made an statement re. art's value in society. I'd read a
chapter on just that topic in a book on Kashmir Schaivism earlier that
day.  I told him about the concept of "rasas" meaning flavor types (as in
food) and how they relate to emotional states.  He then grilles me about
how dare I offer my opinion, the insults and bans.  What a jerk!
