After disappearing from local Costcos after a decent selling time when 1984
was getting lotsa publicity and was a bestseller--you know when--
it has now reappeared along with many 'classics' that are obviously being
stocked because they are major school reading list titles--To Kill A
Mockingbird, The Great Gatsby, others--

So, Pynchon's introductory words will penetrate many more younger readers
than, maybe, ever before. (Think of all the young 'uns who may
ONLY read the intro.......)
