(Once more about) GR supplemental texts

I’m trying to organize a GR reading group in Philadelphia for early 2019. The goal is to spread the gospel. 

If you could put one or two supplemental things on a reading list, what would they be? 

Planning at least to include excerpts from Life Against Death, maybe a few choice notes from Weis’s Companion. 

Any ideas for illuminating essays, commentaries, source texts?

Obviously I do not plan to overload or scare off the readers who will be joining, any more than they may already be scared off from this particular book. The goal is to make easier and more rewarding.
