Yes, Johnson's writing is beautiful and I got lucky with this opening
because
of how the Plist, Ish and some others. have kept the famous ending lines of
*The Great Gatsby* in the forefront of my consciousness.

And Pynchon 'studies' and sixties studies for the course I will teach
enabled me to contextualize it even more.

Even more than Johnson contextualizes
the sixties with his character's reports from the NYT. The wonderful
structural stroke he had--and is executing like a genius.

Thank you and know this book is worth reading hard.
