My hope is that his work gives rise to many more that will follow in his
steps. His ideas provide tools, but people with a united will are needed to
topple totalitarian types of all stripes.

Side note to Pynchon, which I have mentioned here before: In VL on page 229
someone asks Atman, "Weed, how about picking up the gun? We know it's
supposed to be wrong but we don't know why." Weed then considers one
response before saying, "It's wrong because if you pick up a rifle, the Man
picks up a machine gun, by the time you find some machine gun he's all set
up to shoot rockets, begin to see a pattern?"

    This looks a bit like Sharps idea that direct action of the more
aggressive and physical nature, whatever the degree, gives the regime a
free hand in the most violent type of repression if it desires to pursue
that path. Examples abound in recent history.
