It’s an astonishingly great, haunting film

Bizarrely, despite the lack of any ethnic minority actors, it’s one of the
great cinematic paeans to multiculturalism and the impermanent nature of
Englishness/nationalism - a reminder that Christianity and the Anglo-Saxons
have held residence in England for no greater length of time than paganism
and the Ancient Britons. Something I’ve always remembered when the EDL try
to scaremonger over ‘Islamic take overs’ of Europe.
