Roger Deakins is one of the great cinematographers of our time - also
did Nineteen Eighty Four, Skyfall, most of the Coen Bros films.
I thought BR2049 was patchy when it catered to fans of the original,
but when it goes its own way some stellar sequences result that are
worth the price of admission alone.
The character Joi takes the underused trope of the Machine with Pathos
and runs in entirely new directions.
