M&D notes problem

Smoke,

If you want your notes to be welcome and useful and practical for
others in the future, can you do anything to avoid the garbage
characters and broken words that risk making your posts too much of a
chore to read? Maybe your mailer processes outgoing and incoming
messages with no problem (so you have no idea what I'm referring to),
but take a look at the archives to see what your message looks like
not only there but in the digest. You aren't the only one who has this
persistent problem; for all I know, this message of mine too will get
garbaged up by the time it circulates; but if you can do anything to
keep your notes from becoming too much of a headache to bother
reading, I hope you will.
