Since THAT book and its damned rocket ( and rockets) are always so important to Pynchon listers--to the exclusion of many other of his books and topics, imho--I can't resist sending THIS in my attempt to be popular here.  LOL. 

"The business of war", yes, and yet a couple famous economics books/ thinkers on how destruction clears the way for faster growth.
Think, basically, Keynesian stimulus. 

Faster growth definitely NOT a Pynchon theme, I say, in fact part of the "problem". See ATD.
