THIS [below] is a prequel style, so to speak, right out of Gravity's
Rainbow.
"What was wrong? Nothing. Hey, watch where you're going or I'll whop
you.The crowds. The crowds. My skull needs grease. it must have dried out.
All that stuff. Shoe shops, hat shops, electric lights, bars."---second
page, #p.6 of BERLIN ALEXANDERPLATZ. .......
Consciousness combined with others' remarks, no punctuation, the
self-questioning tone, just released from prison but it is still in his
head [free.yeah, right] impressional situation of the narrator...the
list.....electric lights' resonances as well, and here we have Doblin
checking off his city in four phrases, 'all that stuff', a shorthand
realism, just like TRPynchon in THAT book....Hyperreal......Hysterical
realism YES! because the world is hysterical shout all of us like Molly
Bloom.
