Netflix Babylon Berlin

Wonderful series. Glad they are funded for a second season. So much of this
current tv fare feels as good as film. Wish I could qualify why US
commercial tv is so crass and so many of those multi-episode european shows
are so very good.

I got into watching Killing Eve, which is written brilliantly and is such a
nice mesh of brutality and triviality offering the trendy novelty of
filling all the usual slots with women instead of men, from writer to most
of the principal characters. It works for me. The 1st season just finished.
You can now binge it on BBCAmerica or Sling. Whatever you to, start with
episode 1 and watch it sequentially. The villain is a beautiful masterpiece
(with really good taste in clothes)

While reading reviews of Killing Eve, which a few weeks ago I felt must be
the best spy-style series ever made, I was alerted for the first time to
another apparently european series (is it?) that the reviewer considered to
be vastly superior. It's called BERLIN STATION (to ever more be confused
with Babylon Berlin in my head) and it follows some pretty topical problems
in the CIA united stationed with the US embassy in Berlin. First season is
a masterpiece of casting, acting writing and cinematography. I don't know
what happened with the 2nd season (need to find an article in the Guardian,
I'm afraid) but it is closer to CSI than CIA in many ways. (The addition of
Ashley Judd in a leading role contributed to the loss of 'feel' in the
second season IMHO) Richard Jenkins is simply excellent in both seasons.
They've just received funding for a 3rd season. Looking forward to it.

On the film front, not getting out much, but am enjoying many aspects of
HOW TO TALK TO GIRLS AT PARTIES which incorporates 1970's UK Punk Culture
with a group of space aliens who have taken human bodies to investigate
Life on Earth. It's everything zombie movies are not.

How about Dead Pool 2? Haven't seen it yet but have seen a lot of clips.
Seems like it's very entertaining, if that's what you want from film.
