Nice, mc. Thank you. Both the Humanities and Science begin and end in religion. That is, belief. Sokal, et. al., take such pains because, whether they admit it or not, they are threatened by a greater, more encompassing wisdom, which has been on to their bogus posturing and claims of objectivity since at least Swift. The Humanities does a better job of examining meaning and value, which cannot be calculated or computed from first principles, except when tabulated in terms of power, greed and domination. Full stomachs are nice but sooner or later humans, even humans 2.0, have to take a shit.

Shit used to be good- part of the self-renewing miracle of life on earth. Shit now includes way too much of the fruits of convenience offered by the supposedly neutral wisdom of science and technology. We are left with simmering plastic seas, choking skies, virtual freedom and the ability of deranged narcissists to exterminate at will those who are inconvenient to their own self-reflection. Bad shit.

There's nothing wrong with indoor plumbing. We have all become dependent on science and technology to some degree, and self-important demagogues exist on both sides of the chasm. In fact, they may represent the most universal aspect concerning our inherent nature.

Cue: Lennon's "It's So Hard"
...But when it's good
   It's really good
And when I hold you in my arms baby
Sometimes I feel like goin' down...
