"Burgess’s library contains several copies of Pynchon’s novels, including an American first edition of Gravity’s Rainbow, multiple copies of V., The Crying of Lot 49, and Vineland (1990). Which is in line with a remark I once read that Burgess indeed did not finish GR -I don't remember where or by whom.

I really loved Burgess' Earthly Powers, and like The End of the World News a lot.

In GR Pynchon is a film director. Locations are sets, and vice versa. If that's not your thing, who cares?  But that horse shipped out to War ages ago. If we all lived long enough in this life, all our sins would eventually be forgotten, so forgive the Burgess snipe.
