I recently came across "cam" used as a verb in rereading of _Lot 49_, in 
the scene where Oedipa meets the sailor with the post horn tattoo:

"The eyes closed. Cammed each night out of that safe furrow the bulk of 
this city's walking each sunrise again set virtuously to plowing, what 
rich soils had he turned, what concentric planets uncovered?"
