"A Holding"

Big Brother & the Holding Company, I read somewhere ...  the name is
an allusion to Orwell's Classic, and a  Holding Company, an IRS
definition, and Holding is a reference to Holding dope. Holding has
many, many business, finance, property meanings. A Holding might be
what is held or held up, or in the Hold of a ship, these days more
likely to be in a container, box cars box cars box cars, in The Wire,
human cargo...a legal Hold and Freehold  & your really got a Hold on
me....stash, keep, know when to buy sell, hold, fade, fold....
