C'mon man!  Don't you know y'own question answer?  I know you do.

My answer: Low Wages caused by Wealth Disparity and Union Demise.  Oh, and
global 3rd World competition.  But somehow the Germans seem to be doing
fine.

I take it all back what I wrote above. My real answer:  Our military
budget.  We could have nice things otherwise.  Oh, and we also need to kill
the Republican Party, if it were possible.
