Not Pynchon but...

Recently Jochen used Stephen King's emblematic clown in a political post about Trump. He has surely found for use, like a fine cultural commentator, what is becoming an iconic/archetypal fictional character. I've seen it around the twittersphere.

But the main reason for this post is to tell you that
Jill Lepore uses the clown tellingly in THESE TRUTHS as a metaphor for Alex Jones (a deep Trump influence, of course) ,

Her stuff on conspiracy spins since Hofstadter
Would enlighten us all, I say, of course wanting to have all identify with me who WAS educated by it.

Other stuff on the beginning of the Internet and political and cultural aspects therefrom (DARPA etc) and thereby is wonderful "extra credit" on BLEEDING EDGE and even has "insights" one might apply to its meaning, I suggest.

This history is the most Pynchonian-like vision of American history since Hofstadter for me. Just sayin'.
