International Pynchon Week 2021 in Vancouver

Dear Pynchonians,



I’m pleased to announce that International Pynchon Week 2021 will be held
the week of June 6-12, 2021, in Vancouver, Canada, on the campus of
the University
of British Columbia <http://ubc.ca>. I look forward to welcoming you to
Vancouver and UBC, my home campus, in 2021.



Vancouver, the first North American venue for an IPW, will place Pynchon
scholars on his one-time home coast and about 140 miles from Seattle, where
his novel-writing career began in the early 1960s. For those skeptical of
national border-making (a-and who isn’t?), Vancouver is also at the heart
of the Cascadia bioregion extending from northern California (setting for
*Vineland*) on up to Alaska. More Vancouver connections to come in a
general call for papers I’ll likely send out and post widely some time in
mid-2020, with a deadline in late 2020. I’ll establish a conference website
with info on accommodations, scheduling details, etc. some time later too.
