Mentions his friendship with Thomas Pynchon.

"One day he called me. I had  known his wife, and she must have told him
how much I appreciated him, must have been something like that. He said on
the phone, 'I am Thomas Pynchon,' and I was so surprised that I didn't tell
him, 'come on, don't make fun of me.', but answered, 'and I am László
Krasznahorkai'. He said we should meet if I feel like doing it. So we met,
and soon out acquaintance deepened into friendship. He's a very amiable,
nice, playful man. I wish on the first Thursdays of every October for the
rest  [of our lives] we could clink our glasses for the new Nobel laureate."
