I agree...I’m not a scholar of the cartels, but the drug war in Mexico has been just another example of a insoluble problem, that has been gradually escalating on a somewhat annual basis...
Mexico’s GDP has grown something like 44% from 1994 to 2019 (just doing a quick & dirty calculation, don’t quote me...), but now you have this in 2020:
