Fallout from the NYC postal workers strike of 1970. Largest wildcat strike
in US history. Lasted eight days and nearly brought the financial industry
to its knees.

Nixon called out 18,000 National Guard troops to deliver the mail. They had
no idea how to do it. "Who knew mail was complicated? Maybe we should pay
these people!"  The whole thing was reorganized the following year. The
union I belong to was created as a result,
