P & Teilhard ----goes out for Ish

1944? Is this the first publication date? Or the composition date? Or what?
This essay or Chapter VIII of _the Future of Man_ is dated September 1946.

It begins in the "bad lands" of Arizona.
Is this an error? Are the men in Arizona? The test in Nevada?

Also of note,  it alludes to Bikini (July 1946), and references the
New Yorker article 18 August  1945, but never mentions the bombings of
Japan.
