You know the scene- the dawn of humankind, around 2 million tears ago- about the time it takes light to reach us from our closes galactic neighbor-Andromeda, basically the entire span of our evolutionary history- The windswept plain, the newly inspired apes on the cusp of tool-based lethality, marking the beginning of our evolutionary dependence on technology- entwined with it like the genetic strands themselves. Then the ape-man flings the club into the blue, but it defies gravity, and signifying our mutual ascent: us and technology, becomes a spaceship with human cargo.

When George Harrison was posthumously inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, a bunch of Rock Apes, Prince chief among them, performed an inspiring rendition of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," at the end of which, Prince flings his guitar skyward- it never came down.
