On the verge of my 73rd birthday, I have resolved to take a momentary
respite from buying new fiction, but rather to revisit classics. The first
and second are by William Gaddis -- *The Recognitions* and *JR*.; after
that it will be Thomas Pynchon's *V.* which changed my life, and then
Gravity's Rainbow, and after that Neal Stepenson's *Snow Crash*. And now
I'm on ro Don De Lillo.
