Did you notice the dates of tomb discovery?  They relate to the main action in the book.  Tutankhamun’s tomb was opened in 1922 and later some folks involved died supposedly from the "curse of the pharaohs.”    I really don’t want to go anywhere with this idea except that the Egyptology stuff is in perfect timing with the Harlem Renaissance and Prohibition - the whole age of it.
