This is a fantastic conversation. I'm shocked by how clearly DeLillo's
voice comes across.
"If I can go on for a minute..." and "I have to add this:" are not
phrases you would ever read in his curt, tight writing.
In fact, it's almost unheard of for an artist to excuse themselves for
going on during an interview. Usually you can't get them to stop
talking about themselves.
(Bonus points for one of the funniest footnotes to a serious article
ever, addressed to you know who)
