Howdy folks,

I came across this the other day; maybe someone has already shared this.

It seems the characters Renfrew and Werfner might be based on historical
figures. Shocking right, cause TP never does that.

At https://churlsgonewild.wordpress.com/tag/against-the-day/ it is claimed
that "This is the case, for example, with the novel’s two geographers,
British and German, modelled on the real-world figures H.J. Mackinder
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halford_John_Mackinder> and Karl Haushofer
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Haushofer>." It goes on to talk about
Mackinder's Heartland Theory.

An interesting addition to the depth of AtD.

Ciao
