Having taught in NYC private schools for over a decade, my experience is that "senior plays" are usually completely done by seniors as graduate thesis projects. Otherwise most schools have two plays/musicals per year, which feature all students, freshmen up to seniors. "Guys and Dolls" is still fairly popular.

Having said that, a 16-year old would be a sophomore. It's unlikely he'd be cast in the lead role: that usually goes to seniors, UNLESS someone is wildly talented, then exceptions are made. So for Ziggy to have the lead in a spring musical, he must have been a wildly talented freshman. And there'd probably be some bruised egos among the upper-classmen!

As far as timing goes, my school usually had a play in the Fall and a musical in the spring.

Obviously other schools may vary, but I thought I'd mention this!

To play Nathan Detroit, it’s usually a senior play, Guys and Dolls, isn’t
it? - that’s a lot of lines. Maybe Ziggy is 16 or older?
Private school - maybe accelerated - senior play in March/April or has more
    time passed than I thought?
I guess that’s still enough time, especially if they started in the fall?

    Wikipedia sez:

The Globex Trading System was introduced in 1992, was the first
global electronic trading system designed to handle both futures
    trading and options
trading. It was developed by the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) along
with other technology companies and it was designed to work with the
existing open outcry system at the exchange to help improve efficiencies
and extend the hours of trading. Today, Globex, or "CME Globex", offers
trading approximately 23 hours a day, five days a week.

From 1992 to 2001 - Horst has been laggardly in switching over to Globex.

Also - and perhaps importantly - Globex is an evil corporation in The
    Simpsons.
