“PaPa LaBas’s Mumbo Jumbo Kathedral is located at 119 West 136th St.”

Which sez that —-
Prior to 2014 (but how long before that?)
this was a vacant lot.

...the island of Manhattan looks kind of like a diving bird with its feet and wings tucked up close...

On the left is the Hudson River, on the right the East River sort of gives way to the Harlem River after you get north of Roosevelt Island (formerly Welfare Island?)

Avenues go N-S
>From the Harlem River going west you’ve got:
FDR which sort of subsumes into Harlem River Drive north of the RFK bridge

Madison

Malcolm X / Lenox

(everyone knows how cool Malcolm X was, but that Lenox was an interesting fellow as well: reclusive, wealthy book collector who had a cataloging system known only to him & whose collection eventually became part of the founding collection of the New York Public Library; also founded Presbyterian Hospital)

Adam Clayton Powell
Frederick Douglass

And something called 9a

Supposedly Harlem starts north of Central Park (110th)

Madison & 120th - Marcus Garvey Park
(Like to see that & the historical watchtower sometime)

119 W 136th is between Malcolm X and Adam Clayton Powell Avenues.
