A) this is in the context of listing the wide variety of things being reclaimed by the Mu’tafikah, tangentially - it’s like one of those “which of these things do not belong with the others” - perhaps stating a credo Reed (imho) values above the glorified theft that the Mu’tafikah are practicing and above political movements: “artists relating...their craft”

B) A strong cognate from the time-of-writing vs the ostensible time-of-action: South African trumpeter Hugh Masakela!

C) maybe as he was writing this passage, a Hugh Masakela song came on the radio?

D) is “transmitting Black American sounds on home” a typo, should it be “from home?”

Or it could be a verbal grace note, like “bring it on home:”
“transmit it on home.”

Hugh Masakela played a lot of sounds but this one was a big hit back in the diz-ay:
