Was there talk of a BE read?

I did try to answer your questions, David.
"There are 41 chapters, 478 pages. most chapters between 6 and 13 pages; ch 10 and 38 have 16 pages; 40, 41, 14 and 37 have 15 pages 34 has 18 pages( halloween )”
I never proposed a group read of ATD. You had asked about an ATD group which I mentioned called The Chumps of Choice. You wanted to know if it was still going. I answered that it is long finished but the record is still online. Sorry for the confusion.
I also asked for help in planning a schedule( see below). John, apparently ready to get going, gave us a summary. We still have time to work out more of a schedule, which I am trying to do. I need some feedback
WHAT FOLLOWS WAS POSTED UNDER THE SUBJECT : BE read, schedule questions, proposals
I put this in an earlier post but it seems to need a new subject head.
My first proposal is still way too slow . 136 days of 4 day chapters 30 days of 5 day chapters and 6 days for ch 34 . 172 DAYS? (5 and 1/2 months seems far too much time for this book to me)
if we average 8 pages a day we read the book in 2 months. ( Most chapters in 2 days) That seems a much better pace to retain interest. I think anything more than 2.5 months with breaks for holidays is too much. But I’m ready to let a quorum decide.
So lets vote on this A) 4 days per chapter ( 5 months) B) 2 days per chapter ( 2 months) C) 7 Pages a day( about 2.5 months) I do think we should organize reading by chapters to keep the flavor of Pynchon's decisions about dividing the action
I will be happy to break this up into a schedule according to what people want. Also we can add ideas to the ABC choices I proposed, but lets’ keep momentum and get those ideas on the table.
Also lets see who is up for taking chapters? how many chapters can you take? Any ideas on drawing in a larger group? I would love to see maybe an effort to reach younger readers ? We can have chapters with no hosts but ask each person to put out a question or theme they want to see followed?
