Lifelong girlfriends, sisters as the word goes. A deep American thing at
least, fer sure; probably a world thing.
And in pop culture, where, as also in life, one is usually more princessy
than the other. The other, very often the comic foil,
*the wacky sidekick. *pattern observed and captured.
As I mentioned last time, their bond is stronger than their shared man and
I think it matters a lot in this novel, the
other one with a female protagonist. There are good women in this novel.
Men, not so much, eh?
"Which mob exactly, Heidi, and what difference would it make"...NYC, mob
city, second mention, with this answer to the question:
"Plenty, as it would turn out".
Big thematic clue.
