BEg2 chapter 4 tangent: Brady Bunch 2:15 premature evaluation

On Hulu. Haven’t watched it all the way through yet, but impressions so far:

70s decor - love it.

Carol Bondurant from Bob Newhart’s reception desk  (Marcia Wallace) appears
as the wig salesperson.
Even she seems to regard her red hair as outré.

Very whitebread. No POC, the only variation seems to be in hair!

Also, all the girls have blonde hair and the boys have dark hair.

With Marcia getting the dark wig, is she transgressing both into the
“conspicuous in their absence” darker-pigmented sectors, and into a
territory inhabited by the boys?

The secondary plot is interesting too: the girl chasing the middle boy is
regarded as unseemly.

It’s completely fraught, emotionally laden, and I have to pause before
watching the ending!

Also, it’s already made me laugh out loud.

As an aspiring Pynchon fan completist, I’m ashamed not to have already
binged this show.
